Welcome to the website of Philip Travisano (me!), seasoned graphic designer with decades of experience in the print and digital worlds. I have spent the majority of my career as a member of in-house marketing teams, but have done a significant number of freelance projects independently. I love designing company logos, children’s product packaging, and anything with a vintage feel.

I was born into a creative family, and literally had a paint brush in my hand at the age of two. I am the son of Ron Travisano, an advertising executive who revolutionized the business with Jerry Della Femina during the “Mad Men” era. Although I spent a few summers in “the bull pen” (the art department) on Madison Avenue, I didn’t officially launch my career until after college.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. My first graphic design job was as a traditional paste-up artist for phone book ads. I then worked for a New Jersey sign shop creating giant letters and other graphics. After that was a four-year stint at a Manhattan coffee table book publisher where I made the transition from manual paste-up and design to desktop publishing.

Over the next few years I fell in love with three things: designing on the Macintosh, the young woman who would become my wife, and the place where that young woman lived — the San Francisco Bay Area. I promptly transitioned to the west coast in 1995. My wife and I spent two decades together in the Bay Area, five years in Portland, Oregon, and have most recently settled on California’s Central Coast near San Luis Obispo.

As stated above, I have mostly been a staff graphic designer: DIVA (the first video-on-demand provider), and Konami (video games), both in Redwood City, California; University Games (traditional board games and puzzles) in San Francisco; and Monster, Inc. (accessory cables and headphones) in Brisbane, California. I currently work for Rev One Design (a San Francisco Bay Area company) 100% remotely just a mile from the Pacific Ocean. These are the places in which I have thrived and grown over the years, although I have always made time for juicy side projects.

Have a look at my body of work, and don’t hesitate to contact me with any comments, questions, or project proposals. Enjoy!
